Types of Pet Cremations in Singapore
In Singapore, the burial of a pet is not allowed by law. The only option of sending off a pet, then, would be to cremate them - turning the remains of the body into ashes.
There are a handful of organisations that allow for pet cremation services in Singapore, and we work with Mandai Pets Sanctuary who is NEA-approved and experienced with more than 30 years of experience under their belt.
Mandai Pets Sanctuary offers three different cremation services which you can choose from dependent on your needs, preferences and budget. Do note that cremation costs also differ with the size of your pet.
1. Private Cremation
As the name suggests, a Private Cremation slot allows for the grieving to spend some alone time with their beloved pet—final moments before the cremation. Additionally, you can also opt to observe the cremation process. The Private Cremation also ensures that you will only receive your pet's ashes instead of those of other loved pets, since your pet would be placed in the cremation chamber alone.
Families who have had the pet for a long period of time, and have formed close-knitted bonds with the pet, often opt for the Private Cremation because it is much like a human cremation/funeral ceremony. The privacy allows families to grieve freely and in their own time.
2. Cremation with ashes
Your pet would be cremated in the same cremation chamber as other pets, albeit in separate partitions so that the ashes will not be mixed with those of others. Subsequently, you will be able to retrieve the ashes of your pet after the cremation ceremony.
This would be preferable if you want to retrieve the ashes as a keepsake for remembrance, and are yet also keeping to a budget to facilitate the funeral of your pet. If you are wondering what you can do with the ashes, click here to find out the options.
3. Mass cremation
The mass cremation is where your pet will be cremated together with other pets, without partition. While this fulfils the need of disposing of the pets remains, you will not be able to collect the ashes of your pet because the ashes would be mixed with others.
This option is the most cost effective method of giving your pet a dignified send off. While some may not prefer this option because they would not be able to retrieve the ashes of their furry friend, others would opt this as they feel that there is no need for the physical presence of the ashes to hold memories of the pet. Furthermore, many pet owners nowadays take many photos of their pets which is, considered to some, enough to remember their beloved pet.
